Villa Maria House (above) is located in Ireland's most famous village, Cong, County Mayo, also known as the gateway to Connemara in County Mayo. Cong is located between two lakes, Lough Corrib and Lough Mask. The Corrib, one of the largest lakes in Ireland, is made up of 365 islands. One of the most beautiful of these islands is Inchagoill, which contains 5th century Christian ruins. Daily boat tours are available by former Clevelander & Skipper, John Luskin.

Cong is a town full of history. It is most well known as the setting for the 1951 film, "The Quiet Man", starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. Cong is also home to Ashford Castle, which was built in the 13th century and once home to the Guinness Family. Today, Ashford is one of the finest hotels in Ireland. Another site worth visiting is Cong Abbey, built in 1120 by the High King of Ireland Turlach O'Connor. And ten miles away is Ballintubber Abbey, which is over 800 years old.
